Collagraph and Carborundum with Michelle Rowley

12th & 13th July 2018

Surfaces and Signs of the City – with Collagraph and Carborundum Print

Explore the text and textural environment of the town and city through the rich potential of colour and texture provided by the collagraph process in this two-day workshop.

Learn about plate making with a range of media and materials focusing on textural relief, letterforms and surfaces found in the urban landscape and develop your own multiple plates. Michelle will provide visual references to work with, but you are welcome to bring your own!

On the second day, you will learn how to ink the plates with intaglio and relief methods, explore colour and layers, stencils and embossing.

Michelle is a lecturer in Fine Art at Wirral Met College and specialises in printmaking and artists’ books. She has developed a number of collaborative printmaking and book arts projects including Brigham

Young University, Utah. She is currently studying for an MA in Site and Archive Intervention at UCLan where she is investigating aspects of our relationship to ‘place’.
