Rhaglen Gweithdai’r Haf 2014

Torlun Pren/Printiau Lliw gydag Anthony Ratcliffe

14-15 Awst 2014
10:00-16:00

Bydd y gweithdy hwn yn cyflwyno’r broses o argraffu torlun pren mewn du a gwyn ac mewn lliw i’r cyfranogwyr. Caiff y myfyrwyr gyfle i ymgysylltu mewn prosesau ymarferol gan gynnwys darlunio a phaentio delweddau, torri’r blociau, cofrestru, argraffu niferoedd, dewis inciau a phapurau a chyflwyno.

Bydd pob cyfranogwr yn darlunio, torri ac argraffu delwedd torlun pren deuliw. Cynhelir cyflwyniad o waith yr artistiaid i ddangos sut mae defnyddio llyfrau braslunio, trawsgrifio’r delweddau i’r blociau, argraffu gyda chyn lleied o dechnoleg â phosibl a deilliannau eraill i’r ddelwedd torlun pren wedi’i argraffu fel celf llyfrau. Mae’n briodol ar gyfer artistiaid profiadol a’r rheiny sy’n argraffu am y tro cyntaf.

Mae fy ngwaith wedi bod yn gysylltiedig â thirlun Prydain erioed ac mae’n ganlyniad i deithio’n helaeth o amgylch yr Alban, Cymru, Lloegr ac Iwerddon. Fel rhan o’r teithiau hyn, rwy’n ymchwilio i astudiaethau natur, archeoleg, daearyddiaeth a llenyddiaeth sy’n gysylltiedig â’r tirlun.

Mae gennyf ddiddordeb arbennig yn yr olion a welir yn ardaloedd pellennig ein morlin a’n gweundiroedd o ddefnyddio’r tir yn y roes a fu; gellir eu gweld ar ffurf cerrig cynhanesiol, offer cloddio plwm a thomenni pridd gwastraff neu adfeilion wedi eu gadael a malurion.

Rwy’n gweithio o wybodaeth ddarluniol, gan wneud ddefnydd helaeth o lyfrau braslunio, ac yna bydd y wybodaeth yn cael ei syntheseiddio i argraffiadau torlun leino, celf llyfrau wedi’u gwneud â llaw a’u hargraffu, a darluniau dyfrlliw.

Mae fy stiwdio yn edrych dros fryniau Penwynion Parc Cenedlaethol y Copa Tywyll ac mae llawer o’m gwaith diweddar wedi esblygu’n dilyn archwilio manwl a darlunio’r tirlun lleol hwn.

Yn fy swydd fel darlithydd yn Ysgol Gelf Manceinion, rwy’n arddangos ac yn curadu arddangosiadau i hysbysu ac addysgu yn ogystal â chynnal fy ngwaith a’m hymchwil personol yn arddangos a gwerthu gwaith trwy arddangosiadau taleithiol a nifer o orielau masnachol.

Cynrychiolir fy ngwaith mewn casgliadau cenedlaethol megis Cyngor Prydain a’r Tŷ Cyffredin, casgliadau corfforaethol fel Maes Awyr Manceinion plc, Ysbyty Frenhinol Manceinion a nifer o gasgliadau preifat ym Mhrydain a thramor.

Rwy’n aelod o Academi Celfyddyd Gain Manceinion yn ogystal ag LFA.

Heb fod yn aelodau £120.00 / Aelodau £75.00

Anthony Ratcliffe

My work has always been connected with British landscape and is a result of travelling extensively around Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland. As part of this exploration I research natural history, archeology, geography and literature associated with the same landscape.

I am particularly interested in the remnants of past land usage found in remote areas of our coastline and moorlands, these may be found in the form of prehistoric stones, lead mining equipment and spoil heaps or abandoned ruins and wreckage.

I work from drawn information, using extensive sketchbooks, this information is then synthesized into woodcut prints, handmade and printed bookart and watercolour paintings. My studio overlooks the Pennine hills of the Dark Peak National Park and a lot of recent work has evolved from detailed exploration and drawings of this local landscape.

In my role as lecturer at Manchester School of Art I exhibit and curate exhibitions to inform and educate as well as maintaining my personal practice and research, exhibiting and selling work through provincial exhibitions and numerous commercial galleries.

My work is represented in national collections such as the British Council and Houses of Parliament, corporate collections like Manchester airport PLC, Manchester Royal Infirmary and many private collections in Britain and abroad. I am a member of Manchester Academy of Fine Arts as well as LFA.
